Recently in an Instagram live chat, Pommie Mbangwa asked Former England Captain Kevin Pietersen to choose between Virat Kohli & Steve Smith as who is the best batsman among both the cricketers.
Since ages, Virat Kohli vs Steve Smith debate is the limelight for ages & many have been asked to pick one batsman over another most players have decided to give diplomatic answers and not to make a definite choice. But Kevin Pietersen is different from them, the former England batsman in an Instagram live chat with ex Zimbabwe cricketer and current commentator Pommie Mbangwa didn’t shy from making a firm choice. Pietersen without even thinking for a minute picked Kohli over Smith & further said that the former Australia Captain “doesn’t even come close” to the Indian Superstar.
“Kohli hands down, Freakshow. His record chasing, winning games for team India with the amount of pressure he consistently plays under, Smith doesn’t even come close to Kohli said the Former England batsman”. Pommie Mbangwa didn’t stop here he further prodded the England batting star by asking him to choose between the legendary Sachin Tendulkar & Virat Kohli and once again Pietersen didn’t shy to give his choice.
“Again Virat Kohli because of his outstanding chasing numbers. His chasing numbers are frightening. His average is 80s in chases, all his one day match hundreds come when he is chasing under pressure. He consistently wins games for India. He just keeps on turning the numbers, chasing, chasing, chasing. That’s what drives me & motivates me. My man of the match performances. It was not the way that I played or how I played. How many men of the match performances and how many games you win for England. And he does that for India. Unreal numbers” added Pietersen.
Most of the cricketers have agreed to the fact that when it comes to limited-overs cricket Virat Kohli is above the rest of the cricketers but some are of the belief that Smith is better than Kohli when it comes to the longest format of the game.
As per the ICC Rankings list, Smith Steve leads the list in Test rankings with Kohli whereas when ODI rankings are talked about Virat Kohli is at the top position followed by his teammate Rohit Sharma with Steve Smith not coming even in the top 10 list.
In T20Is rankings Pakistan batsman Babar Azam is on the number one spot followed by India star batsman KL Rahul & Kohli currently grabbing the 10th spot. Steve Smith is currently on the 52nd spot in the table.
