The BGT 2023 ended with India winning the trophy & bringing it back home. On the other hand, Australia defeated India in the third Test to end the series at 2-1. The third Test which India lost was held at Indore Holkar Stadium was full of controversies all thanks to the pitch which was curated for the fixture. Many experts were of the opinion that the Indore pitch was totally unfit for a Test match as it produced sharp turns right on the first day of the Test match. Such turns were expected on the fourth or fifth day of a Test match. Though Australia managed to win the match, both the teams witnessed back-to-back fall of wickets making it a low-scoring affair.
After the conclusion of the fixture on the basis of a pitch review, ICC rated it ‘poor & unfit’ with three demerit points. But BCCI didn’t lose hope in fact it appealed to the ICC & the World Governing Council has finally changed the pitch’s rating.
Indore Pitch now comes under ‘Below Average’ on BCCI’s Appeal
The effect of BCCI is known in the entire Cricket fraternity & this time even the ICC couldn’t ignore BCCI’s appeal. Following the appeal by the BCCI, the ICC appeal panel consisting of Wasim Khan, ICC General Manager – of Cricket, and Roger Harper, ICC Men’s Cricket Committee Member, reviewed the third Test footage.
