India’s star bowler Harbhajan Singh gave a witty reply to former India all-rounder cricketer Yuvraj Singh on his remarks that there are no role models in the Indian cricket team apart from the India Captain Virat Kohli and vice-captain Rohit Sharma.
Former India bowler Harbhajan Singh reacted on Thursday to Yuvraj Singh’s comment that there is a dearth of ‘role models’ in the current Indian team. Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh last week said that India Captain Virat Kohli and Vice-Captain Rohit Sharma are the only few of the role models in the team. “In the Indian cricket team the senior players Rohit and Virat Kohli who play all the three formats of cricket, I feel since the social media has come to existence there are very less guys to whom we can look up to. That sense of respect for seniors has become a thin line”, Yuvraj Singh said in an Instagram live chat with Rohit Sharma.
Harbhajan Singh was questioned by a leading media portal about Yuvraj’s remarks, and the off-spinner said that he did not feel the same till the time he was there in the Indian cricket team. “See every team has a different culture. Pehle ke time kuch aur tha (times were different before). Now, these are different times. What Yuvi said, I don’t know in what context he said these things but I played till 2016 and I never felt anything like this”, Harbhajan said.
The 39-year-old cricketer added that Yuvraj Singh can give a better answer as to why he felt this so because he knows the context in which he said it. “I haven’t been in the team since 2016 so I cannot comment current batch. But till the time I was there, I never felt anything like that. Yes, the team changed a lot since 2016. So maybe Yuvi can give a better answer to this question as he knows the context as to why he said like that”, Harbhajan Singh said.
