The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed former New Zealand cricketer Grant Bradburn as the Head of Pakistan Men’s senior cricket team. Bradurn’s appointment comes ahead of the rigorous recruitment process that was carried out by PCB to finally ascertain an ideal Head Coach.
PCB Chairperson Najam Sethi addressed the media and confirmed Bradburn’s appointment on Saturday. Previously, Grant Bradburn was named as Pakistan’s interim Head Coach but now the satisfied apex body has finally given him a full-time opportunity. Bradburn will officially join Pakistan’s national side in a two-year contract deal.
Interestingly, Bradburn had served as Pakistan’s Head Coach for the recently concluded white-ball series against New Zealand. With Grant’s effective guidance, Pakistan clinched the ODI series with a terrific 4-1 margin and managed to draw the T-20I series at 2-2.
Grant Bradburn had previous coaching stints with Pakistan
Grant Bradburn had previously served as Pakistan’s Fielding coach in 2018 and the Head High-Performance Coach in 2021. He has now been delegated a crucial responsibility ahead of the upcoming Asia Cup and the ICC World Cup 2023.
Addressing the media, PCB Chief Najam Sethi was delighted to appoint Grant Bradburn as Pakistan’s new Head Coach. Sethi stated that Bradburn has paramount coaching experience as he has previously worked with the senior team and the National Cricket Academy. Furthermore, he mentioned that Bradburn is an ideal match for the role.
Grant Bradurn’s appointment has also come after PCB recently appointed Mickey Arthur as the Team Director. With the combination of Arthur and Bradburn, Pakistan definitely has a bright future ahead.
Grant Bradburn was also excited after his appointment was made official. Grant stated that he is honored to serve as Pakistan’s Head Coach and he has always loved his engagement with the subcontinent nation. Bradburn also stated that he is equipped with the team culture and player and he is looking forward to the role. His first assignment will be the upcoming three-match ODI series against Afghanistan in the coming month.
