Bangladesh fast bowler Qazi Oink is banned for two years after failing a dope test during the National Cricket League in November 2018.
The Bangladesh Cricket has taken the decision of banning the fast bowler Qazi Oink for two years after failing a dope test during the National Cricket League in November 2018. The BCB has removed the pacer from every programme of the Bangladesh Cricket Board that he was a part of, media said.
According to the media reports, Oink had tested positive for Methamphetamine during a match in Cox’s Bazar but the pacer hidden the fact from the Officials. The fast bowler had admitted his offence & accepted two year suspension for an anti-dope rule violation.
The substance is prohibited under section S6a of the 2018 ICC Prohibited list and consequently prohibited under the BCB Anti-Doping code 2.1, which has adapted the ICC Anti-Doping code. As per the BCB rules, Qazi Onik will now be eligible to join the squad & participate in the cricketing activities from February 7,2021 as his ban had started from February 8,2019 the day when the formal statement of the palyer’s analytical finding & the day when he accepted the suspension.
Oink was the Bangladesh’s highest wicket-taker in 2018 Under 19 World Cup which took place in New Zealand as he grabbed 10 wickets in the tournament at an economy rate of 4.58. He has also grabbed 15 wickets in four first class matches & has a total of 41 wickets in 26 List A Games.
