All-rounder cricketer Ben Stokes will lead England squad in the first test match against West Indies which will begin at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton on Wednesday in a bio-secure environment due to the coronavirus pandemic. Spinner Dom Bess has successfully grabbed his place in England’s 13 players squad for the first test match against West Indies & Moeen Ali didn’t get a place among the nine players reserves, the ECB said on Saturday.
All-rounder cricketer Ben Stokes will lead the England squad in the Test Series which will begin at the Ageas Bowl Southampton On Wednesday in a bio-secure environment amid the COVID-19 pandemic. In September, Moeen announced that he was taking a break from test cricket after losing a central contract for the longest format but he was included in a 30 man training group.
But the ECB opted to select the off-spinner Bess, who grabbed his first five-wicket in a test match against South Africa in January. Spinner Jack Leach is among the reserved player for the opening game of the three-match series.
All-Rounder Sam Curran who tested negative for the deadly virus was also put on a stand-by. The official skipper of the England squad will miss the first test match as he wants to be with his wife who is going to deliver his second child.
The second & third test series will be played in Manchester in July. Let’s have a glimpse of the names of England playing squad.
