The BCCI is scheduled to commence its 4th Apex Council Meeting on July 17 amid the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The BCCI will work on finalizing India’s revised Future Tours Programs & the domestic season in its 4th Apex Council meeting which is to be conducted on July 17. Just like the last meeting which was conducted on May 6, the upcoming meeting will also be held online amid the coronavirus pandemic. The nine-member Council will talk about various topics including Chinese Sponsorship in the IPL.
Any official matter about the IPL can be taken up by its Governing Council which had called for a meeting to review Chinese Sponsorship in the cash-rich league in the view of the Galwan Valley face-off which took place last month but it is yet to come up with a final date.
The Indian Cricket Team was scheduled to tour Sri Lanka for the ODI series in the month of June-July but the series got postponed due to the pandemic. With the ever-increasing cases in India, it is not even fixed that the players would resume the training camps.
The upcoming Apex meeting of the IPL will be on the agenda of finalizing the domestic cricket schedule. The previous season ended with the Ranji Final trophy final in March before the countrywide lockdown was enforced.
However, the domestic season would be curtailed if the IPL is played in the September-October window whose chances are very less due to the fate of the T20 World Cup. The BCCI’s deadline was extended till December for seeking the tax exemption for the T20 World Cup which is to be held in India next month.
“That issue will also come up for discussion,” a BCCI official told PTI. The CAG nominees in the Council Rehani Bhardwaj has directed the board to make sure that only eligible BCCI members attend the meeting.
“The President/Joint Secretary BCCI (who would be presumably officiating as Secretary after vacation of Secretary BCCI post) need to also ensure that fourth Apex Council meeting is attended by only members, eligible as per the Constitution,” she wrote in an e-mail to the council members.
Earlier BCCI has requested a term extension for its President Sourav Ganguly & Secretary Jay Shah until 2025 from the Supreme Court.
