The BCCI has announced the India A squad for the Emerging Women’s Asia Cup to be played in Hong Kong from June 12-21. The management has selected India’s U19 core team which was a part of India’s U19 World Cup Triumph. Shweta Sehrawat who was integral in India’s title Triumph has made a cut to the announced squad. She will lead India A team in the marquee event. On the other hand, her teammates such as Soumya Tiwari, G Trisha, Titas Sadhu, Parshavi Chopra, and Mannat Kashyap are other notable inclusions to the squad.
Coming to Sehrawat’s performance she has topped the run-charts in the U19 t20 World Cup 2022 by amassing 297 runs in seven innings. While Parashvi Chopra was amongst the youngest players in WPL 2023 and ended as second highest wicket-taker by scalping 11 wickets in six innings at an average of 7.00 National team selectors also named Shreyanka Patil & Kanika Ahuja in the announced squad for their blistering performances in the WPL 2023. The duo was the highlight performer for the RCB squad which finished fourth in the WPL 2023. Shreyanka was known for her power-hitting skills at the lower order while Ahuja was known for her fine strokeplay & big hitting capacity.
Meanwhile, Goswami’s favorite Titas Sadhu will lead India A pace attack along with Kashyap and Chandigarh’s Kashvee Gautam. For the unversed, Kashvee Gautam has scalped 10 wickets in an inning with a hat-trick on his name against Arunachal Pradesh in the Women’s U19 One Day Trophy in 2020. The BCCI doesn’t want to take any chance in the marquee event thus they have re-appointed Nooshin Al Khadeer as Head Coach of the India A team. Khadeer led the backroom staff during the U19 World Cup Campaign in January. He was also named the Assistant Coach of Gujarat Giants at the inaugural Women’s Premier League in March.
