The Secretary of BCCI & President of ACC, Jay Shah has invited presidents of Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka boards to grace the IPL 2o23 Final in Ahmedabad. For the unversed, IPL 2023 final will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Shah has stated that the Chiefs of BCB, ACB & SLC will meet in Ahmedabad during the final of IPL 2023 to discuss the fate of Asia Cup 2023. The Asia Cup 2023 is slated to be played in September 2023 & will be hosted in Pakistan. Notably, India is unwilling to travel to Pakistan due to security issues. And thus Pakistan has proposed hosting India fixtures in a neutral venue i.e. UAE. But BCCI & ACC are yet to communicate their stance on Pakistan’s proposal.
“The respective presidents of the Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka Cricket Boards will grace the Tata IPL 2023 final to be held on May 28 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. We will hold discussions with them for outlining the future course of action in relation to Asia Cup 2023,” Shah was quoted as saying by Sportstar.
IPL 2023 Final will be no less than a Blockbuster
The much-hyped 16th edition of IPL has managed to grab the attention of the majority of viewers & cricket lovers. A two-month-long tournament has finally reached its conclusion. Out of the top four qualified teams, Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow Super Giants & Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants got knocked out of the tournament after losing the eliminator clash against Mumbai Indians. While Chennai Super Kings qualified for the finals by defeating Defending Champions & table-toppers Gujarat Titans. Now the eyes will be on Qualifier 2 which will be played between Gujarat Titans & Mumbai Indians as the winner of this clash will march into the finals. Meanwhile, Chennai has qualified for the 10th time for the IPL finals. They would now aim to add a fifth title to their kitty by winning the summit clash.
For the unversed, ICC has pitched International Olympic Association for the inclusion of Cricket in the Olympics 2028. The IOC is reportedly impressed by the traction Cricket is generating & thus they are now considering ICC’s plea for the inclusion of the sport in the marquee event. Notably, the enormous success of the IPL is the major driving force for the IOC’s consideration of including cricket in the Los Angeles Olympics 2028.
