Bangladesh’s Development Coach & former first-class cricketer Ashiqur Rahman tested positive for the deadly COVID-19.
Ashiqur Rahman was a member of Bangladesh’s 2002 U-19 World Cup Squad, but he was not able to make a move to the senior team of Bangladesh during his cricketing career that lasted for six years. Bangladesh Cricket Board media committee head Mohammed Jalal Yunus told PTI that Rahman is currently under treatment at Mugda Hospital in Dhaka. “He is experiencing chest congestion & we are hoping for a speedy recovery”, said Yunus on Wednesday. Rahman himself revealed on Tuesday that he has come in contact with the deadly virus.
“I got the report yesterday, i.e on Monday and the report says COVID-19 positive”, Rahman told a media website.
“I didn’t understand it at first. I first had a swollen tonsil then I had a sore throat at first them fever came slowly & then chest pain have started & then I went to the doctor and did my test”, said the pacer bowler.
Rahman was also a member of Bangladesh’s 20202 U-19 World Cup Squad but never made to the senior team of Bangladesh in his six years long cricketing career. Rahman fetched 36 runs & 21 wickets in 15 first-class and 18 list A games respectively.
The 33-year-old former pacer has served as an assistant coach with the Bangladesh women’s team. More than 16,000 people have been tested positive for coronavirus in Bangladesh and 250 deaths have been reported so far.
Currently there is 44,79,249 active cases of corona & about 300254 death toll across the Globe. The countries which are most affected by the deadly virus is UK, US, Russia, Spain & Italy.
