BAN vs AFG: Bangladesh announces Squad for T20I Series

BAN vs AFG: Bangladesh has announced a squad for two-match T20I series against Afghanistan & there comes a call-up for Afif Hossain and Ebadot Hossain. There was no place for wicket-keeper batter Jaker Ali who was a part of the Ireland series in March. Afif Hossain who was a part of the ODI squad for the series against Afghanistan had last played in the T20I series against England in March. In total, he has played 62 T20Is & has scored 1020 runs at a strike rate of 120.28.

Talking about Ebadot Hossain he was not a part of the T20I team which faced England & Ireland. He had last played in the T20 World Cup in November last year. He made his debut during the Asia Cup 2022 where he returned with seven wickets in four T20Is. He returned with figures of 4-47 in a one-off Test against Afghanistan earlier this week.

Bangladesh’s next T20Is are against New Zealand in December 2023 after the conclusion of the BAN vs AFG series. The two-match T20I series against Afghanistan will be played in Sylhet on July 14 and 16 after the conclusion of three ODIs. The only other time Bangladesh played T20Is at home was in July when they faced South Africa in 2015.

The T20I & ODI squad will see the return of Shakib-Al-Hasan. He had missed the one-off Test against Afghanistan due to a finger injury sustained during the ODI series against Ireland. However, after recovering from the injury he has now made a comeback to the national team for the Afghanistan series
