Afghanistan is all set to tour Bangladesh for all three formats series for the first time in the history of cricket. After reaching Bangladesh on June 10 they will play one-off Test, three ODIs & two T20Is. This is the first time since 2019 that Afghanistan will play red-ball cricket in Bangladesh.
The tour will be divided into two parts with Afghanistan playing a one-off Test in Dhaka from June 14 to 18 after which they will depart for India for the white ball series. They will return back to Bangladesh for the ODI series which will be played in Chattogram from July 5 to 11. They will also play two T20Is in Sylhet on July 14 and 16, which will conclude the series.
Afghanistan last visited Bangladesh in 2022 where they lost the ODIs by a 2-1 score. However, they managed to draw the T20Is with a one-all score. Afghanistan played their only Test match against Bangladesh in 2019 when they defeated the hosts by 224 runs in Chattogram. Bangladesh has returned to Dhaka after the conclusion of the ODI series against Ireland in Chelmsford.
The majority of the Bangladesh squad that toured England for the ODI series against Ireland last month has returned back. However. some key players of the England team have decided to stay back to take a break & relax. But Bangladeshi players would look ahead to begin their preparations for Afghanistan Test soon & thus they will soon begin the preparatory camp for their home Test series against Afghanistan from May 25 or 26. BCB Officials are expecting that their foreign coaches who are currently on break will be available for the preparatory camp so that Bangladesh could prepare for the one-off Test efficiently.
