ACC accepts PCB hybrid model, read to know more

ACC is likely to accept PCB’s new hybrid model for Asia Cup 2023 which will have initial matches to be played in Pakistan & later the tournament will be moved to Sri Lanka. As per the reports, Pakistan will host four or five fixtures out of 13 & Sri Lanka will host the remaining fixtures, including the final clash. Meanwhile, India will play all the fixtures in Sri Lanka & PCB & ACC have agreed upon the same.

Asia Cup 2023 will begin between the first week & second week of September & will continue accordingly. This will be a good opportunity for all Asian teams to finalize their squads for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 which will begin right after the completion of the World Cup 2023. All the fixtures will be played in Lahore while Kandy & Galle will host the fixtures in Sri Lanka.

As per reports, Pakistan wants UAE as their cohost but BCB & other boards have raised concerns about the extreme heat in the UAE during September. After considering all these conditions, Pakistan has agreed to join forces with Sri Lanka to host the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 fixtures.

PCB denied touring India for World Cup 2023 after BCCI refused their hybrid model

Initially, BCCI denied to tour Pakistan for playing Asia Cup 2023 & thus PCB proposed the hybrid model whereby India fixtures were planned to be conducted in the UAE. But BCB, SLC & BCCI collectively rejected the hybrid model due to logical constraints. And after the discussions between the member nations, they decided of hosting the marquee event in Sri Lanka.

With the hybrid model getting rejected, PCB said that they will not travel to India for ODI World Cup 2023. But now after ACC accepted to retain the hosting rights with Pakistan it seems that the Asia Cup 2023 debacle between India & Pakistan will get solved. PCB also presented the hybrid model to Pankaj Khimji, the head of Oman Cricket & the ACC’s Vice-President in a meeting a couple of weeks ago. He later presented the model to other members of the ACC & now after the model gets approved the official statement regarding the same will be released soon.
