RR vs CSK Highlights: Rajwadas of Rajasthan finally broke their two-match losing streak by defeating Chennai Super Kings by 32 runs at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Match 32 of IPL 2023. The match began with Rajasthan winning the toss & opting to bat first. The Pink Army welcomed the home crowd by smashing consecutive fours right in the first over of the fixture. It was Jaiswal who created the magic right in the beginning by smashing back-to-back boundaries. He got valuable support from Buttler at the other end as the duo stitched a valuable 86-run stand for the first wicket.
Soon their blooming stand was broken when Buttler was dismissed in the ninth over for 27 runs off 21 balls. Jaiswal then joined hands with the skipper to smash CSK bowlers all over the park & stitch a 39-run stand for the second wicket. Later there was a collapse when Samson and Jasiwal got dismissed in the same 13th over to leave Rajasthan reeling at 132-3. Samson got dismissed after scoring 17 runs off 17 balls while Jaiswal went back after playing a valorous knock of 77 runs off 43 balls with eight fours & four sixes. Later Dhruv Jurel & Devdutt Padikkal stitched a valuable 48-run stand to get RR back on track. Jurel scored 34 runs off 15 balls with three fours & two sixes while Padikkal stayed unbeaten at 27 runs off 13 balls with five fours. As a result, in the end, Rajasthan Royals ended their innings at 202-5 in 20 overs. For CSK, Tushar Deshpande starred with the ball by returning with figures of 2 for 24.
Gaikwad and Dube led the fightback but couldn’t flourish in front of fiery RR bowlers
In reply, CSK got off to a good start with Ruturaj Gaikwad & Devon Conway scoring 42 runs for the first wicket. But soon their blooming stand was broken with Zampa dismissing Conway in the sixth over. Ruturaj Gaikwad was going strong at the other end, he joined hands with Ajinkya Rahane to keep CSK’s scoreboard ticking. However, in the 10th over Zampa scalped his second wicket of the day by dismissing Gaikwas for 47 runs off 29 balls with five fours & one six. Right in the next over, Ashwin did the job by removing Rahane(15) & Rayudu (0) in the same over reducing CSK to 72-4 in 10.4 overs.
There came a respite for CSK when Shivam Dube stitched 51 run stand for the fifth wicket with Moeen Ali. Shivam scored 52 runs off 33 balls with two fours & four sixes while Moeen scored 23 runs off 12 balls. After Moeen’s dismissal, Dube stitched another 46-run stand for the sixth wicket with Ravindra Jadeja (23 off 15). Runs were coming but at a slow pace with the required run-rate mounting with each over. As a result, RR wrapped CSK’s innings for 170 runs registering a decent 34-run win. For RR Adam Zampa starred with the ball by returning with figures of 3 for 22. Ravichandran Ashwin provided him with good support by fetching 2 wickets for 35 runs. In the process, R Ashwin also became the first bowler to dismiss the maximum number of batters for a duck in IPL history.
