With this victory, Bangalore jump to the fifth spot in the standings and sustain their hopes of qualification to the Playoffs.
Winning the toss at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Faf du Plessis made an exemplary decision to bat first. Batting first, Royal Challengers Bangalore managed to put up a stupendous above-par total of 171/5 runs in their first innings of 20 overs. Royal Challengers Bangalore was off to a solid start as opening batsman Virat Kohli (18) and Faf du Plessis put up a vital 50-run stand for the first wicket. Faf du Plessis (55) capitalized on his innings and powered a commanding match-winning stand of 69-runs for the second wicket alongside Glenn Maxwell (54) who anchored a pivotal knock.
Towards the end, Anuj Rawat (29) played a crucial explosive cameo that helped Royal Challengers Bangalore breach the 170-run mark. For Rajasthan Royals, Adam Zampa (2/25) starred in the bowling attack with a splendid bowling spell and was handsomely supported by KM Asif (2/42). Sandeep Sharma (1/34) chipped in a wicket apiece.
RR couldn’t survive Bangalore’s fierce bowling attack
Chasing a challenging total of 172 runs, Rajasthan Royals failed to survive the decisive bowling attack by Royal Challenger Bangalore. Rajasthan’s frontline batting attack collapsed as Yashasvi Jaiswal (0), Jos Buttler (0), Sanju Samson (4), and Devdutt Padikkal (4) returned to the pavilion without making an impact.
Shimron Hetmyer (35) played the only standalone impactful knock but his efforts went in vain as the middle-order also failed in their efforts to solidify the run chase and Rajasthan was bowled out for a mere total of 59-runs and lost the match by a whopping 112-runs. For Royal Challengers Bangalore, Wayne Parnell (3/10) led the bowling attack with an absolutely phenomenal performance whereas Michael Bracewell (2/16) and Karn Sharma (2/19) grabbed a couple of wickets each. Maxwell and Siraj chipped in a wicket apiece.
