Chennai was off to a stunning start as opening batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad (37) and Devon Conway (92) powered a splendid 86-run stand for the first wicket. Conway played a phenomenal knock and stood strong at the end by starring in another vital 44-run partnership alongside Shivam Dube (28).
Moeen Ali (10) and Ravindra Jadeja (12) slowed down Chennai’s death overs progress but the last-over heroics of M.S Dhoni (13) ensured that the hosts reached the 200-run mark. For Punjab Kings, Arshdeep Singh, Sam Curran, Rahul Chahar, and Sikander Raza chipped in a wicket apiece.

Chasing a mammoth target of 201 runs, Punjab Kings was off to a decent start as frontline batsmen Prabhsimran Singh (42) and Shikhar Dhawan (28) anchored a crucial 50-run stand for the first wicket. Liam Livingstone (40) and Sam Curran (29) sustained the momentum and capitalized on the solid start by starring in a fascinating match-winning partnership of 57 runs for the fourth wicket.
In the end, a couple of sizzling cameos from Jitesh Sharma (21) and Sikander Raza (13) put Punjab in the driver’s seat as the visitors hunted the total on the final delivery of the game. The most riveting encounters at IPL 2023 saw Punjab sealing away the game in a nail-biting finish.
For Chennai Super Kings, Tushar Deshpande (3/49) and Ravindra Jadeja (2/32) led the bowling attack whereas Matheesha Pathirana claimed a wicket apiece. However, their efforts went in vain.
