KKR vs GT: A clinical all-round performance from a surging Gujarat Titans side helped them to register a decisive seven wickets victory against the Kolkata Knight Riders. With this victory, Gujarat Titans regained their supremacy and clinched the first position in the standings. Winning the toss at the Eden Gardens, Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya made an exemplary decision to bowl first. Batting first, Kolkata Knight Riders were convincing in their batting approach as they posted a 179/7 runs total in their first innings of 20 overs.
Kolkata Knight Riders were off to a decent start but kept losing wickets at regular wickets and failed to build solid partnerships. Rahmanullah Gurbaz (81) played the standalone pivotal knock and stood strong at the end. He posted a splendid partnership of 47-runs partnership alongside Rinku Singh (19) before losing his wicket.
In the end, a marvelous cameo from Andre Russell (34) helped Kolkata to put up a challenging total on a batting-friendly wicket. For Gujarat Titans, Mohammed Shami starred in the bowling attack claiming 3 wickets for 33 runs. Joshua Little (2/25) and Nur Ahmad (2/21) provided exceptional support to the Indian pacing giant.
Vijay-Miller’s decisive 87-run stand guided them to a gleaming win
Chasing a mammoth total of 180 runs, Gujarat was off to a sluggish start after losing Wriddhiman Saha (10) early on in the innings. Shubman Gill (49) then took charge and powered a vital 50-run stand alongside Hardik Pandya (26).
When things seemed difficult for the Titans, Vijay Shankar (51) and David Miller (32) came to the rescue and anchored a commanding match-winning stand of 87 runs for the fourth wicket. Backed on their prominent performance, Gujarat Titans hunted the target in only 17.5 overs and secured a comfortable victory.
For Kolkata Knight Riders, Harshit Rana (1/25), Andre Russel (1/29) and Sunil Narine (1/24) chipped in a wicket apiece but their efforts went in vain as a commendable performance by Gujarat outplayed the hosts in a much needed win for both the sides as the championship progresses towards the penultimate stage.
