IND vs AUS Day 4: The WTC 2023 Final is no less than a roller coaster ride for cricket-fans as they are trying their best to clinch the gleaming maze in their kitty. By the end of Day 4 Australia managed to hand India a huge target of 444 runs to chase. Day 4 began with Australia in dominant position resuming the day on 123-4 with a commanding lead of 296 runs. But Indian bowlers tried their best to scalp early wickets with Yadav dismissing Labuschagne in the early hours of play. Green then joined the field with Alex Carey & the duo tried to settle on the crease before Green bowled Jadeja for 25 runs.
Mitchell then joined the crease & he along with Carey stitched a stable stand to frustrate the Indian bowlers. He put a rewarding 93-run stand to stabilize Australia’s innings. Soon Starc was sent back after scoring a gritty 41 off 57 balls but Carey on the crease meant Australia is still in command. Cummins then joined the crease & the duo tried to extend Australia’s innings. But the Captain was sent packing for 5 runs with the scoreboard reading 270-8. At this moment Australia had extended its lead to 443 runs & it was a good time to declare their innings & concentrate on Day 5. Carey ended as a top run-scorer for India scoring 66 off 55 balls.
IND vs AUS Day 4: India led the fightback in the chase of 444 runs
With a massive target in place, India began their innings on a high note. by maintaining the run rate of 6 in the first five overs. But soon Australia got the better of them with Boland dismissing Gill in the eighth over by taking a catch in the gully region. The catch raised eyebrows as there were doubts about Boland losing control & ball touching the ground. The decision was then referred to the third umpire who termed the decision in Australia’s favor.
Rohit then joined hands with Pujara & the duo kept India’s scoreboard ticking. But it was Australia who had the last laugh by removing both the set batters in consecutive overs. Lyon first struck to remove Rohit in the 20th over while Pujara went back in the 21st over off Cummins’s delivery. India was reeling at 93-3 & then came Kohli on the field who joined hands with Rahane to remove Australia from the state of bother. They just attempted the good balls while smashing loose balls for four-fours & sixes. Virat ensured that he doesn’t repeat his mistakes from the first innings. While Rahane was nursing his injury but still kept national duty in front of his injury & ensured that India ended Day 4 without losing any wickets further. India ended Day 4 at 164-3. India still needs 280 runs on Day 5 to be in the much anticipated WTC 2023 Finals.
