Winning the toss at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya made an exemplary decision to bowl first. Batting first, Royal Challengers Bangalore posted a commanding 197/5 runs total in their first innings of 20 overs. Royal Challengers was off to a commendable start as opening batsman Faf du Plessis (28) and Virat Kohli stitched a stunning 66-run stand for the first wicket. Glenn Maxwell (11) and Mahipal Lomror (1) came in next but failed to play an impactful knock.
Virat Kohli (101)* powered a masterful and spectacular century that rescued Bangalore from a critical situation. Kohli and Bracewell (26) added a crucial 47-run stand for the fourth wicket. In the end, a vital cameo from Anuj Rawat (23) took Royal Challengers Bangalore near the 200-run mark. For Gujarat Titans, Noor Ahmed (2/39) starred in the bowling attack with a splendid performance whereas Rashid Khan, Mohammed Shami, and Yash Dayal chipped in a wicket apiece.

Chasing a gigantic target of 198 runs, Gujarat Titans was off to a sluggish start after losing Wriddhiman Saha (12) early on in the innings. Shubman Gill and Vijay Shankar (54) then came to the rescue and anchored a sizzling match-winning partnership of 123 runs for the second wicket. Shubman Gill capitalized on his innings and went on to play a magnificent innings of 104* runs. Gill silently guided Gujarat to hunt the target in only 19.1 overs as upset Bangalore fans had to sustain their hopes of a title for another season.
For Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mohammed Siraj led the bowling and claimed 2 wickets for 32 runs. Harshal Patel and Vyashak Kumar claimed a wicket apiece.
