GT vs LSG: Gujarat Titans once again proved their prowess by pulling off a stunning 56-run win over Lucknow Super Giants. Lucknow Super Giants tried their best to get away with a gleaming win with De Kock & Mayers stitching an 88-run stand. However, GT’s Mohit Sharma’s four fer didn’t allow them to pull off a win as they fell 56 runs short in the chase of 227 runs, the highest total in IPL’s history. With this win, GT occupies the top spot at the Points Table with eight wins, three losses & 16 Points in their kitty.
The match unfolded with the Titans batting first. Struggling opener Wriddhiman Saha finally found his mojo back while another opener Shubman Gill was just six runs away from a scintillating ton. The duo set the stage for a massive total i.e. 227 runs. Wriddhiman Saha & Shubman Gill went all blazing guns. Saha scored 81 runs off 43 balls with 10 fours & four sixes.
On the other hand, Gill smashed Lucknow all over the park by scoring 94 runs off 51 balls with two fours & seven sixes. However, their blooming stand of 140 runs was broken when Saha was dismissed in the 13th over off Avesh Khan’s delivery. After his dismissal, Hardik joined Shubman on the crease & the duo anchored the Titans innings. The skipper couldn’t continue the momentum set by Hardik as he got dismissed in the 16th over for 25 runs. But Shubman was going strong by staying unbeaten at 94 runs. He got valuable support from finisher David Miller who played a quick cameo of 21 runs off 12 balls. As a result, the Titans ended their innings at a massive 227 runs. Lucknow’s bowling attack proved toothless in front of the Titans as none of their bowlers could scalp more than one wicket.
Lucknow couldn’t face Mohit Sharms’ fiery spell
In reply, Lucknow Super Giants was off to a blistering start with Kyle Mayers & Quinton De Kock stitching a massive 88-run stand for the first wicket. However, their happiness couldn’t last for long with Mayers getting dismissed after playing a quick cameo of 48 runs off 32 balls with seven fours & two sixes. But De Kock was going strong on the other end by scoring 70 runs off 41 balls with seven fours & three sixes. Deepak Hooda (11 off 11 balls), and Ayush Badoni (21 runs off 11 balls) got good starts but couldn’t convert them into good scores. Their middle & lower order too couldn’t do wonders as a result LSG was restricted to a 177-run total. For the Titans Newbie Mohit Sharma starred with the ball by returning with figures of 4-29. They suffered a massive 56-run loss & continued to stay at the third spot on the Points Table.
