DC vs RCB: In yet another blow to the struggling Royal Challengers Bangalore contingent, Faf du Plessis & Co. suffered a demeaning seven-wicket victory against season underdogs Delhi Capitals this evening in Delhi. With this victory, Delhi pipped Sunrisers Hyderabad to claim the ninth position whereas Bangalore remains in the fifth position in the standings.
Winning the toss at the Arun Jaitley stadium, Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Faf du Plessis made an unfortunate decision to bat first. Batting first, Bangalore put up a commendable show and posted 181/4 runs total in their first innings of 20 overs.
Royal Challengers Bangalore was off to a solid start as opening batsmen Virat Kohli (55) and Faf du Plessis powered a splendid 82-run stand for the first wicket. Kohli stood patient at the end and stitched another vital partnership alongside Mahipal Lomror who played an absolutely fascinating knock of 54 runs in 29 balls. In the end, the cameos of Karthik (11) and Rawat (8) helped Bangalore to breach the 180-run mark. For Delhi Capitals, Mitchell Marsh (2/21) starred in the bowling attack with a stunning bowling performance whereas Khaleel Ahmed and Mukesh Kumar chipped in a wicket apiece.
Delhi Capitals batters outshone RCB bowlers
Chasing a steep target of 182 runs, Delhi Capitals was off to a flying start as skipper David Warner (22) anchored a sizzling match-winning stand of 60-runs stand alongside Phil Salt. Salt (87) was absolutely phenomenal in his batting display as he built another resilient 59-run stand for the second wicket alongside Mitchell Marsh (26).
In the end, a contemplating show from Rilee Rossouw (35) helped Delhi Capitals to hunt the target in only 16.4 overs. Rossouw played a pivotal role in starring in a 52-run partnership alongside Salt for the third wicket that swiftly put the game in Delhi’s pocket,
For Royal Challengers Bangalore, Josh Hazelwood, Karn Sharma, and Harshal Patel claimed a wicket apiece but their efforts went in vain in front of a decisive batting display from the sensational Delhi Capitals side.
