Former Indian Cricketers VVS Laxman and Krishnamachari Srikkanth brushed off Michael Clarke comments that Australians Players these days don’t sledge Indian Cricket team Captain Virat Kohli and other Indian Players.
Michael Clarke’s allegedly claims that the Australian players sucked up to India and Virat Kohli to secure good deals in the Indian Premier League are ridiculous and false say, former top Indian cricketers. Michael Clarke said last week that Australians were ‘too scared to sledge’ the Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli or other Indian players because of the influence of the world’s cash-rich T20 tournament. This year IPL has been postponed because of the Coronavirus Pandemic and its possible that it may not be held at all.
Replying to Michael Clarke comments, Former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman an advisor to the Sunrisers Hyderabad Hyderabad team said, “Just being nice to someone doesn’t help you to get a place in the IPL league”. “Teams look at a player’s calibre and value” to win matches”, he added.
Whereas Krishnamachari Srikkanth a former Indian team captain and chief selector said, “You do not win matches just by sledging”, referring to the on-field banter between players. “His statement was ridiculous and useless I would say”, Srikkanth added.
“If you asked more experienced and senior players such as Nasser Hussain or Sir Vivian Richards you can never score runs or wickets by sledging other players”. Australia’s Captain Tim Paine has rejected his teammates claim that Australian cricketers are soft to Virat Kohli during 2018-2019 encounters. “I certainly didn’t notice too many people being that nice to Virat Kohli or trying to not get him out or anything partial on his side”, Paine told a leading media portal.
“I would like to clear that everyone who had a ball in their hand or when they were batting they were trying their absolute best to win the game for Australia”. Australian players have attracted a huge sum of money since the IPL league started in 2008.
Michael Clarke who is currently playing for Pune Warriors in 2012 said that Australian Players were very desperate for the huge riches from Indian Premiere League. He stated that “The players think that they don’t want to sledge Virat Kohli as they want him to pick them for Bangalore so they can make at least 1 million dollars for my six weeks”, Michael Clarke said on media channel.
