Robin Uthappa revealed that according to him Gautam Gambhir is the best captain he has ever played under and further elaborated that he didn’t use to speak much but communicated what is essential and mandatory.
Uthappa when asked about his favorite captain under whom he played and surprisingly he chooses neither Rahul Dravid nor MS Dhoni with whom he has played the majority of International cricket of his career. Robin Uthappa chooses Gautam Gambhir who was his Captain of his team Kolkata Knight Riders in Indian Premier League IPL as the best and his favorite leader he has played under his entire cricket career.
“Gauti is the best captain who outstandingly stood out in the crowd. Though he doesn’t communicate much, he communicates what is enough and you are aware that you are in a good position. Good leaders make you feel secure and they let you be yourself and make your choices which can be seen in their results as a Captain”, Robin Uthappa told a leading media portal.
Uthappa has played six seasons of IPL under the leadership of Gautam Gambhir in Kolkata Knight Riders. He was first bought by KKR in the year 2012 and he played a major role in KKR winning the title of IPL for the first time in the same year. Uthappa again helped KKR to hail the title of IPL in 2014. The wicket-keeper cum batsman has also played one season under Dinesh Karthik’s captaincy in KKR and was released by Kolkata Knight Riders in the current season’s players auction process.
However, the talented batsman was picked up by another great franchise Rajasthan Royals to represent the franchise in IPL 2020 whenever or if at all it takes place. Being a part of Rajasthan Royals Uthappa said, “I am genuinely looking forward to meet and spend time with Steve Smith, Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes Oshane Thomas, Tom Curran and other outstanding cricketers of the cricket fraternity as it’s only when people come together and set the goal of winning and that desire is openly expressed you come to know that you will get through it”.
Currently, Uthappa like other cricketers and sports athletes is spending time at home during the ongoing nationwide lockdown and waiting for the situations to get better so that the world will get the chance to witness the most awaited IPL league!
