CSK vs SRH Highlights: The in-form Chennai Super Kings contingent overpowered Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets to record their fourth victory of the season this evening. With this victory, CSK retained their third position in the standings with eight points in their kitty.
Winning the toss at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, CSK skipper MS Dhoni made an amazing decision to bowl first. Batting first, Sunrisers Hyderabad struggled against a convincing Chennai Super Kings bowling attack and could only post a mere 134/7 runs total in their first innings of 20 overs.
Sunrisers Hyderabad was off to a decent start as opening batsmen Harry Brook (18) and Abhishek Sharma (34) added 35 runs for the first wicket. Rahul Tripathi (21) came in next and scored an effective knock. However, the low strike rate was a troublesome concern for the SRH.
Wickets continued to tumble at regular intervals as the middle order led by Markram (12), Klaasen (17) and Agarwal (2) failed to hold the crease. As a result, Hyderabad was restricted under a below-par score. For Chennai Super Kings, Ravindra Jadeja (3/22) starred in the bowling attack with an absolutely phenomenal spell. Maheesh Theekshana, Matheesha Pathirana, and Akash Singh registered a wicket apiece.
CSK vs SRH: SRH’s bowling attack proves ineffective in front of Conway’s Blitzkreig
Chasing a modest total of 135 runs, Chennai Super Kings did not lose much of their sweat. Frontline batsmen Devon Conway (77)* played the standalone pivotal knock to take Chennai through. Conway powered a flamboyant match-winning partnership alongside Ruturaj Gaikwad (35) for the first wicket.
Though Chennai lost wickets in the later half of the game, Devon Conway stuck strong at the end and ensured that his side stayed on the winning note. As a result, Chennai Super Kings chased the total in only 18.4 overs.
For Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mayank Markhande was the lone wicket-taker as he grabbed 2 wickets for 23 runs in his spell of 4 overs. However, his efforts went in vain as the Sunrisers lost another crucial fixture and hold the penultimate position in the standings.
