The BCCI has called off the Indian Premier League which was scheduled to commence from 29th March 2020 on March 13th till 15th April as a preventive measure for the outbreak of deadly COVID-19.
The Board Of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to conduct a conference call with the franchise holders of (IPL) on Tuesday to discuss the fate of IPL 2020. A BCCI source told, “BCCI and all IPL Franchise holders will have a conference call on coming Tuesday to discuss the further process and the way to conduct IPL 2020”.
As a preventive measure to stop the outbreak of deadly Coronavirus the BCCI on 13th March decided to call off the Indian Premier league till 15 April. Due to the rapid spread of the novel COVID-19, the BCCI asked their employees to work from home to avoid any risk.
When asked about the reason behind conducting meetings over the conference call the BCCI source said, “BCCI office has closed so no meeting can be conducted in the office similarly no meeting can be held in the hotel so BCCI officials opted for a conference call”.
The total number of COVID-19 cases in India is rising rapidly taking the numbers to 223, including 32 foreigners, the Union Health Ministry said on Friday. Though 23 people have been completely cured of the infection in India. The deadly virus has taken over 10,000 lives worldwide!
The option opted by the BCCI to commence meeting is appropriate at this tough time when the rise of the Coronavirus pandemic is at peak.
