BAN vs ENG 3rd T20I: Bangladesh Cricket team powered a spectacular 16-run victory over England in the third and the final T-20I of the series. With this, Bangladesh registered history and recorded a clinical 3-0 whitewash as they overpowered and put up a maiden series victory against England.
Winning the toss at the Sher-e-Bangla International Stadium in Dhaka, England skipper Jos Buttler made an unfortunate decision to bowl first. Batting first, Bangladesh anchored a decent 158/2 run total in their first innings of 20 overs.
Bangladesh was off to a solid start as Liton Das and Rony Talukdar put up a vital 55-run stand for the first wicket. Rony made a noteworthy contribution of 24 runs. Liton Das capitalized on his innings and scored a marvellous half-century. He further built on another terrific partnership alongside Najmul Shanto.
Liton Das (73) and Najmul Shanto (47)* powered an opulent match-winning 84 runs stand for the second wicket. Backed on their rock-solid performance, Bangladesh was successfully able to edge past the 150-run mark.
For England, Chris Jordan (1/21) and Adil Rashid (1/23) starred in the bowling attack and chipped in a wicket apiece.
England lose despite 95-run stand for 2nd wicket
Chasing a modest total of 159 runs, England was off to a sluggish start after losing Phil Salt (0) for a duck. David Malan (53) and Jos Buttler (40) then came in to the rescue and anchored a stunning 95-run stand for the second wicket.
Wickets continued to tumble at regular intervals after Bangladesh successfully broke the partnership of Buttler and Malan. Ali (2), Curran (4) and Duckett (11) failed to hold the crease and capitalize on the start provided by the frontline batsmen. England failed to score at the required run rate and could only post 142/6 by the end of their 20 overs and lost the match by 16 runs.
For Bangladesh, Taskin Ahmed (2/26) was absolutely convincing and exceptional in his bowling approach as he led the bowling attack. Taijul Islam (1/17), Mustafizur Rahman (1/14) and Shakib Al Hasan (1/30) grabbed a wicket apiece.
