Cricket News, Ranking, Results, & Stories
Cricket is a popular sport that is played around the world. It is a bat-and-ball game that is typically played between two teams of 11 players each. The sport originated in England and was first played in the 16th century, and it has since become one of the most popular sports in the world, with over 2.5 billion fans globally. The game is played on a circular or oval-shaped field that is about 137 meters in diameter. The field is divided into two parts: the inner circle, which is where the pitch is located, and the outer circle, which is where the players field. The pitch is a rectangular strip of land that is about 22 yards long and 10 feet wide.
Each team takes turns batting and fielding. The team that is batting sends two players to the pitch at a time. One player, called the “batsman,” stands at one end of the pitch, while the other player, called the “non-striker,” stands at the other end. The fielding team tries to get the batsman out by hitting the stumps with the ball or catching the ball before it hits the ground. The batting team scores runs by hitting the ball and running back and forth between the two ends of the pitch. If the ball is hit over the boundary of the field, the batting team scores six runs. If the ball is hit along the ground and goes over the boundary, the batting team scores four runs. If the ball hits the boundary without bouncing, the batting team scores a “boundary.”
Each team gets to bat for a specific number of overs. An over is a set of six deliveries or throws by the bowler. Once the batting team has completed its innings, the teams switch roles and the fielding team becomes the batting team, and vice versa.
Cricket Ranking
Cricket ranking is a way of measuring the performance of cricket teams and individual players relative to one another. Rankings are usually calculated based on a combination of factors such as wins, losses, draws, and other statistical measures like runs scored, wickets taken, and fielding performance. The International Cricket Council (ICC) is the governing body that publishes official rankings for international cricket teams and players across all formats of the game (Test, One-Day International, and T20 International).
Cricket results refer to the outcome of cricket matches, usually displayed in terms of the number of runs scored or wickets taken by each team. Cricket matches can have different formats, including Test matches, One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), each with its own set of rules and regulations. The result of a cricket match can be a win, loss, or draw, depending on the format and the specific rules of the game. In some cases, matches can also end in a tie, which means that both teams score the same number of runs, or the match is abandoned due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
